IllustrationFriday: Burning

TheSquirrel is 6 years old. Upon learning that this week's word is "burning," she knew just what she would draw.
The funniest part is this:
She said to me as she drew it, "My mouth is open because I [in the drawing] am eating a sandwich. Just so you know."
So I laughed, wondering what eating a sandwich had to do with a fire, and I asked her, "Oh. So why are you eating a sandwich?"
She replied, matter-of-factly, "Because I was hungry!"
[silly mommy!]
:)

btw, above the ceiling it is a starry night. I thought that was a cozy thought for a fire scene.

IllustrationFriday: Transportation

TheSquirrel is 6 years old. Of course in our FireSafety week, we drew a fire engine for the I.F. word "transportation." She was following the interesting outline of an engine with her eye as she drew.
But...
But, this version, however is my personal favorite-- she playfully embellished it the next day as it sat at my desk waiting to be posted. Besides the addition of the stabilizer at the bottom of the truck, and water spraying out, this also includes a "crazy crab claw" and "crazy clouds." :) lol

IllustrationFriday: Old-Fashioned

TheSquirrel is 6 years old. When I told her what she thinks "old-fashioned" means, she said... "like, fancy."
("Well," I said, "it did used to be that people dressed up very extravagantly...") hehe
So she drew a girl with every kind of jewelry possible (notice even the nose-ring)

IllustrationFriday: Acrobat

TheSquirrel is 6 years old. This week's IllustrationFriday word was "Acrobat." She said she knew exactly what to draw for that. And the dots in the background are all the people in the crowd.
I had some fun with adding a photo of a crowd as well. ;)

IllustrationFriday: Proverb

TheSquirrel is 6 years old. To illustrate the word "proverb," TheSquirrel and I read some Proverbs from the Bible of course! The first one I thought of was: "In all your ways acknowledge God, and He will make your path straight." (proverbs 3:6). She liked that one.
She started with a straight path. Then I explained the first part of it, so she drew God/Jesus on the path with her. (btw that is a beard, not a tongue) :)

Centipede

TheSquirrel (age 5) diligently put 100 felt socks on the 100 feet of this centipede!
Below is a great book we read beforehand:
I told her if she finished putting all 100 socks on, I would make her a felt centipede critter. Here it is! (View more of my felt critters here)

IllustrationFriday topic: "Wilderness"

TheSquirrel is 5 years old...
After explaining that a wilderness is a wild place, and can be considered a desert or a forest, she chose to draw a forest scene.
What is in the forest?
"A bear." What is he doing? "Walking." To where? "To a tree." Why? "He is going to climb it." For what? "To get honey."
[After TheSquirrel drew two good pine trees, together we used the computer to duplicate them, to make a forest.]

Please view her previous post, for the word "confined,"--my favorite yet, definitely!!

IllustrationFriday topic: "Confined"

You've got to read the back-story to this one! (below)

TheSquirrel is 5 years old...
She told me the other day that an alien hides under her bed.
Playfully, I just responded "I don't know how he can fit under there with all the games!"
Without skipping a beat, she surprised me by replying that:
"He can fit under there because a special vacuum sucks all the air out of the alien and makes him so flat."
[lol]
She continued, "and I know just what the vacuum looks like-- I'm going to draw it for you."
TheSquirrel drew on her chalkboard the flattened alien and his vacuum.
Her most inventive design yet. :)
I put her drawing over a photo of the alien's living quarters.
